Prime Minister Sharif, Party Secretary Meng discuss CPEC in Shenzhen

Shenzen, 5 June 2024 (TDI): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today met with Meng Fanli, Party Secretary of Shenzhen Municipal Committee, and Deputy Party Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Committee in Shenzhen China.

The Prime Minister noted that frequent engagement and dialogue at the leadership level, people-to-people contacts, and cultural and educational exchanges characterized the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and China.

Shenzhen is the first stop during the Prime Minister’s official visit to China. During his two-day stay in Shenzhen, the Prime Minister and his delegation will meet the leadership of the Guangdong Province and Shenzhen Municipal Government.

He lauded the impressive economic growth and exemplary innovative spirit of Guangdong province. He also termed Shenzhen as a trade gateway for China’s business linkages with Pakistan.

Reaffirming the time-honored All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China, the two sides agreed on exploring opportunities for increased cooperation between Pakistan and Guangdong province particularly under CPEC.

Prime Minister Sharif and Party Secretary Meng underlined the importance of robust linkages and exchanges between scientists, innovators, and businessmen to harness the true potential for enhanced partnership in science and technology, innovation and trade, and economic cooperation.

Furthermore, they also agreed that the Pakistan-China Business Conference to be held tomorrow can make an important contribution.

Shenzhen is the hub of China’s innovation, technology, and research-led companies and enterprises. The visit to Shenzhen aims to bolster economic cooperation in export-oriented innovation-led, advanced technologies, high-tech development, and ICT.
