Prime Minister Pakistan visits Tajikistan

Islamabad, 16 September 2021 (2021): Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan is invited by President Emomali Rahmon to Tajikistan. He is accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other high-level officials.

Imran Khan has embarked on his two-day visit to Tajikistan on 16th September 2021. This visit is comprised of two phases. In the first phase, he will attend the 20th session of Shanghai Cooperation Organization – Council of Heads of States Summit 2021 and will hold meetings with the leaders of Central Asian countries, the President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, and Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi.

In the second phase, Prime Minister Imran Khan will meet president Emomali. Both the dignitaries will exchange views on bilateral relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan. Pakistan shares common faith, history, and culture with Tajikistan. Both countries always have developed brotherly relations. Pakistan recognized Tajikistan soon after its independence in 1991, and also offered warm water access to Tajikistan.

Both the countries have also shown agreement on other projects such as exploration, extraction, and processing of oil and gas products. During this visit, Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the first meeting of the Pakistan-Tajikistan Business Forum. The Forum aims to strengthen trade and investment relations and to accelerate business-to-business contacts between the two countries.
