UK-Lithuania relations
The UK and Lithuania’s bilateral relations started in 1991 after the independence of Lithuania. Both states focus on the development of universal values such as peace, democracy, freedom, human rights, and free trade.
Moreover, as a member of the European Union (EU), Lithuania considers the UK a crucial strategic ally. Furthermore, the two countries are committed to working closely with all NATO Allies. As EU member states, both countries are concerned with upholding the common principles of the Euro-Atlantic community.
In the face of Russia’s unprovoked military invasion of Ukraine, both countries are assisting Ukraine. More recently, on May 23, 2022, the delegations of the UK and Lithuania signed a joint agreement to advance their economic and security ties.
