Prime Minister of Pakistan's meeting with delegation of QIA

Doha, 23 August 2022 (TDI): The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with a delegation of the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) on Tuesday. It was the first engagement of the Prime Minister, right after his arrival in Doha, Qatar.

Mansoor Bin Ebrahim Al-Mahmoud, Chief Executive Officer of QIA, and Sheikh Faisal Thani Al-Thani, Chief Investment Officer of Asia-Pacific and Africa regions represented the QIA in the meeting.

The Prime Minister underscored that Pakistan considers its relations with Qatar of high significance. Further, he emphasized that the country wanted to upgrade the traditionally warm political ties into a comprehensive economic partnership between Qatar and Pakistan.

Moreover, the Prime Minister appreciated Qatar’s economic development under the leadership of Emir of State, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. In addition, he emphasized the need to further enhance bilateral economic ties between the two countries.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also underlined Pakistan’s liberal and business-friendly investment policies.

While highlighting this, he encouraged and invited the Qatari leaders to make investments in Pakistan’s energy, maritime, tourism, hospitality, and agriculture sectors.

Further, the Prime Minister also encouraged Qatari investors to explore the opportunities presented by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) aims to promote regional connectivity and mutual prosperity.

Moreover, the Prime Minister assured Pakistan’s full commitment and facilitation to Qatar Investment Authority members with transparent and expeditious processes.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan invited Sheikh Faisal Thani Al-Thani and Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al-Mahmoud to visit Pakistan at their earliest convenience for continuing the momentum generated by this meeting.

Lastly, the QIA delegation, while considering Pakistan as a priority country, expressed their keen desire to make further investments in Pakistan.

Prime Minister’s Visit to Qatar

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Doha on Tuesday on a two-day official state visit, at the invitation of Qatar’s Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. During the visit, he will hold in-depth political consultations with leaders and Government Officials of Qatar.
