Prime Minister of Pakistan keen to strengthen ties with Qatar

Islamabad, 15 November 2021 (TDI): Ambassador of Qatar, Sheikh Saoud Abdulrahman met Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan to discuss bilateral ties. Both the counterparts talked in favor of establishing stronger ties. Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated that it is in the best interest of Pakistan to strengthen its bilateral ties with Qatar.

Ambassador of Qatar, Sheikh Saoud Abdulrahman conveyed greetings from the leadership of Qatar to Prime Minister Imran Khan. Prime Minister Imran Khan reciprocated and expressed well wishes to the leadership in Qatar.

Strengthening ties with Qatar will serve to be beneficial for both countries. The two countries already cooperate in diverse fields. A large number of Pakistani communities send remittances to Pakistan which contributes to Pakistan’s economy. It can lead to a possibility for increased bilateral trade and people-to-people connections.

Pakistan and Qatar are already cooperating in the form of economic partnership. Pakistan’s trade with Qatar also remained uninterrupted when economic and diplomatic embargos were imposed on Qatar in 2018. Qatar also has extended its help during the 2010 Pakistan floods. During the floods in Pakistan, Qatar provided timely assistance.
