Dushanbe, 16 September 2021 (TDI): During Imran Khan’s visit to Tajikistan, the Prime Minister has met the President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi on the sidelines of the SCO summit. Imran Khan is on a two-day visit for the 21st Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. This year the summit took place in Tajikistan.
Both parties discussed the regional situation and the bilateral relations. The issues of peace and stability also came under discussion. Prime Minister Imran Khan stressed the dire situation in Afghanistan and emphasized the need for stability in the war-torn country and the responsibility of all the players to offer help. In addition to that, trade relations between the two neighbors were also discussed in the meeting.
The two neighborly countries enjoy long-standing amicable relations with one another. Pakistan and Iran both believe in maintaining regional peace and stability. Diplomatic relations have improved between the two states under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan with the intent of deepening the existing relationship. Both the states have expressed mutual cooperation in the economic, political, and diplomatic domains.
