Sydney, 2 January 2023 (TDI): Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese hosted a reception in honor of the cricket teams of Pakistan and Australia along with their respective management at Kirribilli House in Sydney on Monday.
Pakistan Cricket Team is on an official tour of Australia where they were scheduled to play a series of three test matches against the host nation. They also played against the Australian Prime Minister XI during the tour.
Discussing the tour, the Australian Prime Minister wrote that the camaraderie between the Australian Cricket Team and the Pakistan Cricket Team this summer has been a fitting example of how sport can bring people together.
Further he added that, on and off the field, they have shown how competition and friendship makes sports so enjoyable for us all.
Chairman Management Committe, Pakistan Cricket Board, Zaka Ashraf also attended the reception. High Commissioner of Pakistan in Australia, Zaahid Hafeez Chaudhri, and officials from Cricket Australia were also present during the event.
Prime Minister Albanese warmly welcomed both the teams to his official residence and went on to praise the performance of the Pakistan team, especially in the Melbourne Test.
He commended the visiting team’s exemplary conduct during this tour and looked forward to witnessing good cricket in Sydney.
Captain Pakistan team, Shan Masood, expressed his gratitude to the Australian Prime Minister for hosting the team.
Shan Masood highlighted how both teams are playing positive cricket during the series and mentioned that this serves as an opportunity to be an ambassador for your country through your conduct. He also hoped that the team would do well in the Sydney test match to end the series on a high note.
The third and final Test match of the series between Pakistan and Australia will be played at Sydney Cricket Ground, starting from Wednesday, 3rd January.
