Baku, 25 August 2022 (TDI): The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, met with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, in Baku on Wednesday during his visit to Azerbaijan.

Upon his arrival, the President of Kazakhstan was greeted with an official welcoming ceremony. After the welcoming ceremony, both presidents held bilateral talks.
During the bilateral talks, President Tokayev said “Firstly, I would like to express my appreciation for your hospitality.
I am delighted to be visiting your country for the first time as the President of Kazakhstan on an official visit. Indeed, today’s visit has a special significance for me”.
The President of the Central Asian Republic also said “Several documents will be signed as a result of today’s negotiations. I am confident that they will elevate bilateral cooperation and Kazakh-Azerbaijani relations to a new level”.
In response, the President of Azerbaijan thanked President Tokayev for accepting the invitation. Azerbaijan’s President referred to President Tokayev’s visit as a significant contribution to the cooperation between the two countries.
Awarding the Highest State Honor of Kazakhstan

After the meeting, the President of Azerbaijan received the highest state of honor of Kazakhstan from the President of Kazakhstan.
The highest state honor, the Order “Altyn Kyran” (Golden Eagle), was awarded for President Ilham Aliyev’s significant contributions to fostering bilateral friendship and cooperation.
Upon receiving the highest state honor of Kazakhstan, the President of Azerbaijan said “Dear Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich, I would like to thank you very much for this high assessment of my work.
I am very proud that you have deemed it necessary to award me with the highest order of the brotherly country of Kazakhstan”.

During President Tokayev’s visit, both sides signed the government agreement on trade and economic partnership, a cooperation plan between the foreign ministries of the two countries, and a cultural cooperation program between several ministries.
The two sides also signed a protocol on the establishment of twinning relations between the cities of Turkistan (Kazakhstan and Shusha (Azerbaijan), which represent both nation’s spirit and cultural heritage.
