President Zardari Calls for a New Era in Pakistan-Turkmenistan Ties

ASHGABAT, (TDI): President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed the deep-rooted brotherhood between Pakistan and Turkmenistan, calling for collaboration rooted in mutual respect and shared values.

Addressing the International Forum titled ‘Interrelation of Times and Cultures: Basis of Peace & Development’ to commemorate the 300th birth anniversary of Makhdum Gulli Fraghi, President Zardari stated that the bond between the two countries is a cornerstone for a prosperous future, founded on mutual respect, shared values, and common faith.

In his address, Zardari expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of Turkmenistan for organizing the gathering, highlighting the importance of cultural and spiritual enlightenment in today’s world.

The President drew parallels between the themes of Sufism and nationalism found in the works of Makhdum Gulli and those of Pakistan’s national poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

He praised Gulli as a symbol of the Turkmen people’s aspirations and love for their homeland, noting that his poetry continues to inspire unity and resilience.

Zardari commended the leadership of Turkmenistan, particularly President Sardar Berdi Muhammedov, for promoting Makhdum Gulli’s legacy and for facilitating this important event.

He also congratulated the nation on the announcement of 2024 as the “Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World.”

Expressing optimism for the future, Zardari stated that the discussions at the conference would enhance cultural collaboration between Pakistan and Turkmenistan, reinforcing their shared values and commitment to peace.

He concluded his speech with verses of Makhdum Gulli: “I dream of a nation, united and free, where every heart beats with dignity, Turkmen stand strong, their spirits bright, Together we’ll shine, in freedom’s light.
