President Xi’s Remarks at Foreign Ministers’ meeting over Afghanistan

Beijing, 31 March 2022 (TDI): Chinese President, President Xi Jinping, conveyed written remarks at third Foreign Ministers’ Meeting among the Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan. The written marks came on March 31.

It is pertinent to note that the third Foreign Ministers’ Meeting among neighboring countries of Afghanistan was held in Tunxi, China.

Seven countries sent their Foreign Ministers or senior representatives including Pakistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, China, and Russia.

Remarks of President Xi Jinping

President Xi highlighted that Afghanistan has gone through so much in this context. Similarly, the country is passing through a transition phase from chaos to order.

Therefore, it requires development and progress in several areas.

He further reiterated;

“Afghanistan is a common neighbor and partner of all participating countries, and we form a community with a shared future linked by the same mountains and rivers who would rise and fall together.”

In this matter, President Xi pointed out that a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Afghanistan is the aspiration of every Afghan. In addition to that, the regional and international community also have interests in a stable but inclusive Kabul government.

Along these lines, President Xi emphasized that good neighborliness is vital to Afghanistan. However, the regional and international community must show amity and respect towards the country.

According to President Xi, China respects the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Afghanistan. Moreover, the Chinese government is supporting peace, stability, and development in the country.

Currently, the world is going through challenging times. It acquires collaboration among regional and international platforms at various levels.

In the same vein, the neighboring countries of Afghanistan have launched the collaboration mechanism last September. This mechanism has underscored the strengths of participating countries for stability and peace in the region, particularly Afghanistan.

Eventually, this collaborative framework is supporting the steady but stable transition in Afghanistan. Lastly, President Xi highlighted the role of neighboring countries to build consensus.

The message also noted that coordinated efforts are required to support the people of Afghanistan to construct a prosperous future. Earlier, the multinational meeting of Foreign Ministers also delivered a joint statement on Afghanistan.
