President Xi praises China’s Olympic success at Paris 2024

Beijing, 21 August 2024 (TDI): President Xi Jinping during meeting with China’s Olympic delegation for Paris 2024 appreciated their performance and sportsmanship at the event. The president added that the participants have won glory for the country and the people. 

Furthermore, during Xi’s interaction with China’s Olympic delegation at the Great Hall of People, President Xi encouraged the Olympians to make further efforts to build China into a sports powerhouse. 

Demonstrating their finest performance at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, the athletes from China sealed 40 gold, 27 silver, and 24 bronze medals. 

While noting the excellent performance of team China, Xi underscored the importance of technological and material support for sports training along with supportive atmosphere and a solid base for the development of talent in various sports. 

Moreover, the Chinese President highlighted that the country will continue to endorse the deep integration of national fitness and national health initiatives, and continuously progress towards establishing China into a sports powerhouse and healthy nation.

While mentioning the spirit of Chinese sports, the President applauded the athletes for carrying forward the profound heritage of traditional Chinese culture, portraying an open, inclusive, and vibrant image of modern China. 

The president said, “The motherland and the people are proud of you and applaud you.” 

Acknowledging the start of preparations for the next Olympics, Xi called for the country’s Olympians to remain humble while improving their performance in training and competitions.
