President, PM Pay Tribute to Armed Forces on Defense Day

Islamabad (TDI): On the eve of Defense Day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid glowing tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces and martyrs, vowing that the nation would remain steadfast in defending its sovereignty, countering modern threats, and striving for a united and prosperous future.

In their separate messages released ahead of September 6, both leaders recalled the 1965 war, stressing that Pakistan’s armed forces, backed by the full strength of the nation, had repelled enemy aggression and proved their resolve to safeguard the country’s independence and integrity.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also praised the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force for their professionalism and operational excellence, particularly during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos (Marka-i-Haq) earlier this year, which he said was executed under the strategic leadership of Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and constructive international engagement but cautioned against ignoring India’s continued provocations and the changing regional security environment.

President Zardari, in his Defense Day message, saluted the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs and declared that September 6 remained a “glorious chapter” in the nation’s history. He said the spirit of sacrifice displayed in 1965 continues to inspire future generations.
