French President Macron on Call with President Putin

Earlier French President said that the call with the Russian President was frank, direct, and rapid. He said that the call was made on Zelenskiy’s behalf and asked President Putin to halt the war. Putin has repeatedly refused to engage with Zelenskiy directly.

President Macron said that the call didn’t bring any result.

He added: “It is my responsibility to take such initiatives when they are requested by Ukraine … and then — even as we condemn and sanction and continue to decide to act — to leave this path open so that, whenever the conditions could be met, we can obtain a cessation of hostilities.”

The Kremlin said that Putin had given an “exhaustive” explanation to Macron of the reasons for Russia’s actions in Ukraine.

Macron undertook active diplomacy in recent weeks to try to avert a Russian invasion of Ukraine, including holding talks with Putin in the Kremlin.

Ukraine Crisis

In a dramatic move of events, Russian forces attacked Ukraine in a bid to support as “peacekeepers” to the  the two Russian recognized states Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republic, and their call for help.

Russian forces are now close to Kive after nearly 48 hours of the attacks as the forces’ last report was at the outskirts of the capital. Russian forces attacked the military bases and sent troops and tanks from the three sides of Ukraine.

The explosions can be heard at the dawn on Friday as Western leaders are meeting together to impose tough sanctions on Russia. There is also a scheduled emergency meeting on the plea of Ukraine’s president.
