Addressing Media
President Arif Alvi stated that due to floods, there was great destruction in other areas, especially in Sindh. Perhaps this is the biggest flood in the history of Sindh. Major floods are in Pakistan due to climate change and global temperature rise.
He added that Pakistan’s contribution to the increase in global temperature is negligible, but Pakistan is at the top of the countries affected by it. The international community should contribute fully to the recovery of damages caused by climate change in Pakistan.
He urged that positive and far-reaching actions are needed at the global level to reduce climate change. Special measures should be taken for food, education and training, and rehabilitation of flood-affected women and children.
Moreover, he regretted the damages caused by the devastating flood. He remarked that he was deeply saddened to see the loss of crops, houses, and buildings on lakhs of acres.
