Islamabad, 23 March 2022 (TDI): On Tuesday, the President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, met the State Councillor and Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi, at Aiwan-e Sadr, Islamabad. The two leaders exchanged views on bilateral cooperation in the meeting.

The President welcomed the Chinese Foreign Minister and stated that the two nations’ relations were deep-rooted and improving with each passing year. He declared that Pakistan and China were “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partners” and that Pakistan will continue to assist China on its central issues, including Taiwan, Tibet, Hong Kong, and the South China Sea, as part of the “One China” policy.
He thanked China for its cooperation in the Kashmir conflict and the FATF and for sending J10CE aircraft. Both nations are cooperating to foster peace and stability in Afghanistan, according to the President, and are working jointly for the region’s development. He also stressed the importance of increased collaboration in agriculture, automobiles, and information technology.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s support for Pakistan and stated that the two countries would continue to work together for Pakistan’s economic and industrial development. He noted that collaboration between the two nations is improving rapidly and that the CPEC project will significantly contribute to Pakistan’s long-term growth.
He also expressed gratitude to President Arif Alvi for his visit in March 2020 during the Covid-19 epidemic, describing it as “important assistance” for the Chinese people. He went on to say that China was the most trustworthy partner and that it wants to deepen strategic collaboration with Pakistan.
The President also held separate meetings with Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Sameh Hassan Shoukry, and Palestine’s Foreign Minister, Riyad al-Maliki. The Foreign Ministers are in Pakistan to attend the 48th session of OIC, which is being held in Islamabad and will last for two days from 22 March to 23, 2022.
