Beijing, 27 July 2022 (TDI): President Xi Jinping of China called on Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Tuesday. The meeting was held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. President Jokowi came to Beijing on the night of 25th July, on the first leg of his East Asian tour.

President Xi and Jokowi had a comprehensive meeting. The two leaders held in-depth talks on the issues of common interest. Both presidents agreed to work together to set a general direction for building the China-Indonesia Community.

Official Statement

According to the official statement released by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the countries agreed to support each other in security and development. China vowed to solidify the bilateral trust by coordinating with Indonesia.

In addition, the two sides committed to increasing coordination to improve the development of vaccines.

China assured its full support for Indonesia as it will host G20 Summit in November 2022.

China agreed to work and coordinate with Indonesia to make the event successful. Moreover, it will also help Indonesia in the chairmanship of ASEAN, the official statement of the Chinese Foreign Ministry says.

The Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, in Beijing as well. On this occasion, the Chinese Premier said that China is ready to consolidate political exchanges with Indonesia. He also said that China would work with Indonesia to build Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway.

In addition, the premier assured the provision of assistance for the construction of a new Indonesian industrial park and an increase in palm oil imports, among other goods.

After completing the first leg of the regional tour, President Jokowi left for Japan on the same day.

Today, the Indonesian president will meet the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida. Along with this, he has also scheduled meetings with the Japanese Emperor Naruhito and the leading CEOs of Japan.
