Azerbaijan's President, Ilham Aliyev in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, 22 June 2022 (TDI): President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev made a state visit to Uzbekistan at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The state visit

Upon arrival, President Aliyev was honoured and welcomed by the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov along with other officials.

As part of the state visit, Aliyev initially started with the inauguration ceremony of the street and square in honor of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev.

In line with this, both leaders opened a street and a square named after Heydar Aliyev in Tashkent. Also, a solemn ceremony of the official meeting of President Aliyev was held at the Kuksaroy Residence.

Both Leaders exchanged views regarding the further expansion of the Uzbek-Azerbaijani multifaceted strategic partnership during a meeting in a limited format.

In expanded negotiations amid the talks, the Presidents noted the requirement to use the existing huge potential for cooperation. As well as to use the factors of complementarity of the two countries’ economies.

After the negotiations, Mirziyoyev and Aliyev signed a Declaration on deepening the strategic partnership. Along with building up comprehensive cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

Following this, the President of Uzbekistan and his counterpart held a briefing for representatives of the media.

The President of Uzbekistan accompanied by Aliyev was acquainted with the activities of the Technopark LLC in Tashkent.

Mirziyoyev and Aliyev conformably planted seedlings in the Alley of Honorary Guests at the Kuksaroy residence. Most importantly, an official dinner was hosted as well in honour of President Aliyev.

Additionally, President Mirziyoyev arrived in Khorezm and met President Aliyev at the Urgench airport as Aliyev continued his state visit to Uzbekistan.

As a result of Aliyev’s state visit, both Presidents got acquainted with Ichan-Kala Historical Architectural State Museum in the city of Khiva. In addition, they also viewed Nurullaboy Palace Complex in the city of Khiva.
