Pakistan, China to Discuss CPEC During PM Li Qiang’s Visit

Islamabad (TDI): Chinese Premier Li Qiang is scheduled to visit Pakistan with a high-level delegation on a four-day official visit from October 14 to 17, the Foreign Office said on Sunday.

According to a statement by FO, the Chinese Premier will be accompanied by Ministers and senior officials including from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission and the China International Development Cooperation Agency.

During his four-day official visit, Premier Li will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government Meeting on October 15 and 16.

“Premier Li will also lead the Chinese delegations to comprehensively discuss all aspects of Pakistan-China relations including economic and trade ties and cooperation under CPEC,” the FO said.

The two sides will also discuss regional and global developments.

On the sidelines of the SCO summit, the Chinese Premier will meet President Asif Ali Zardari, parliamentary leaders and senior military leadership of Pakistan.

The SCO, which includes India, China, Russia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, is a significant economic and security bloc that has become one of the largest trans-regional international organizations.

The SCO Summit is anticipated to bring together leaders from member states to discuss critical regional issues and enhance cooperation in various fields, including security, trade, and cultural exchange.

The government has already deployed army troops in the federal capital to maintain order ahead of the SCO summit.
