Beijing, 29 April 2024 (TDI): Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk during his visit to Beijing, on Sunday. Premier Li emphasized that China will always be open to foreign funded firms.
Premier Li stated that Tesla’s progress in China is a prime illustration of successful economic and trade collaboration between China and the United States.
He further emphasized that this evidence demonstrated that cooperation based on equality and mutual advantages is in both nations’ fundamental interests and aligns with their respective populations’ shared aspirations.
Moreover, during their meeting, Premier Li clearly stated that China expects the US to engage China through win-win cooperation and diplomacy.
Premier Li also quoted that China expects the United States to remain aligned with the strategic advice given by the heads of states of both countries, ultimately resulting in stable growth of bilateral relations between the two countries.
He highlighted that such collaboration would benefit the people of China, the United States, and the world.
Additionally, the premier acknowledged the crucial role of foreign-funded firms in China’s development and emphasized that China’s extensive market will remain accessible to them.
Premier Li further stated that ”China will always remain at the forefront in taking action to fulfill its promises by increasing efforts to provide more facilities for the expanding market and its growth.”
During their talks, Musk appreciated and quoted the Chinese Tesla’s Shanghai gigafactory as a successful example of the Chinese business portfolio.
Tesla’s largest manufacturing facility outside of the United States is in Shanghai, where about 50% of its vehicles are manufactured.

Furthermore, Elon Musk expressed his willingness to enhance collaboration with China to attain further mutually beneficial outcomes.
It is to be noted that China is holding the 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing, with “Driving to Smart Mobility” being the theme of this year’s event.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang while inspecting 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition stressed the importance of developing intelligent connected new energy vehicles (NEVs) and making the auto industry more high-end, smarter and greener.
