Portuguese journalist Teresa Nicolau visits Pakistan

Islamabad (TDI): The Embassy of Portugal invited Portuguese journalist and author Teresa Nicolau to visit Pakistan from 18 to 27 February 2025. She will participate in various events and activities in Islamabad and Lahore and attend the Lahore Literary Festival (LLF).

This renowned journalist is known for her creative storytelling skills, deep insights into culture, and media influence on public discourse. These contributions have played a significant role in Portuguese journalism and literature. Currently, she is a Director of Culture at the Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Lisbon.

Furthermore, she has a strong career in journalism. Teresa Nicolau wrote the regular media column “A room that is yours” in the “Jornal de Letras, Artes e Ideias.”

In this professional profile, she also worked as an Art and Culture Editor at Radio Televisão Portuguesa (RTP) between 1996 and 2023. In addition, she managed the role of author and coordinator of a landmark cultural daily program ”As Horas Extraordinárias (The Extra Hours),” on-aired by RTP from 2015 to 2020; it achieved great acknowledgment in a vast audience.

He achieved the Pro-Author Award from the Portuguese Society of Authors in 2017 and the Cultural Journalism Award from the same institution in 2020, which recognized his career.

During her visit to Pakistan, Teresa will engage in panel discussions, academic and scholar visits, interviews, and sessions with students and professors. She will share her views and expertise to bolster cross-cultural literary and exchanges between Portugal and Pakistan.

This Literary Festival, which will be held from 21st to 24th February, continues the Portuguese participation in the 2024 edition of the literary festival. Additionally, the another Portoguese author José Luis Peixoto, focusing on engagement and activities of the Embassy of Portugal in Islamabad in promoting cultural diplomacy in Pakistan, it happens with the support the support of the Camões-Institute for Cooperation and Language I.P., based in Lisbon, Portugal.
