Islamabad (TDI): Acclaimed Portuguese classic guitarist and composer Pedro Jóia is set to visit Pakistan from May 23 to 28, performing at the 2025 International Jazz Festival in Islamabad and Lahore.
Invited by the Embassy of Portugal in Islamabad and supported by the Camões Institute for Cooperation and Language I.P, and Emirates Airlines, Jóia will showcase his artistry through recitals, masterclasses and media interactions.
His visit coincides with celebrations of the International Day of the Portuguese Language and the Portugal National Day Program in Pakistan.
Jóia presents a very solid and acclaimed artistic itinerary. As a soloist, he has performed with several orchestras and chamber groups from Portugal, Venezuela, Italy and China.
His work is impacted by musical dimensions and influences from the rich Portuguese music environment but also from Brazil, Andalusia, Latin America, Brazil, Africa and Asia.
In 2008 and 2021, he received the coveted Carlos Paredes Prize, as the best classic guitar player.
He also has been the musical director for seven years, of Mariza, a very much renowned Portuguese Fado Artist.
Jóia’s visit is part of a broader initiative celebrating in May, the International Day of the Portuguese Language and Cultures of the CPLP and also marks the opening of the Portugal National Day’ program of celebrations in Pakistan.
