Islamabad (TDI): Manuel Frederico Pinheiro da Silva, Ambassador of Portugal to Pakistan, has been honoured with the prestigious Global Ambassador Award 2024 in recognition of his outstanding efforts in strengthening diplomatic, trade, and cultural ties between Portugal and Pakistan.
The Diplomatic Insight, a global public diplomacy institution in Pakistan, awarded the Ambassador with the 6th Global Ambassador Award for his groundbreaking contributions to bringing the two nations closer together at bilateral, regional, and multilateral forums within a short period of time.
The 6th Global Ambassador Awards Ceremony 2024 took place in Islamabad, with the presence of Ambassadors, diplomatic corps, Parliamentarians, government officials, business leaders, academics, media, and civil society members.
Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Dr. Farhat Asif, Chairperson of the Diplomatic Insight Group, welcomed distinguished guests and underscored the organization’s commitment to promoting global collaboration and diplomacy.
Manuel Frederico Pinheiro da Silva, a seasoned diplomat with extensive experience, has been serving as the Ambassador of Portugal to Pakistan and Afghanistan since presenting his credentials in March 2023.

Born in Amarante, Portugal, and holding degrees in History, European Law, and Education, Ambassador Silva has dedicated decades to Portuguese diplomacy across Africa, the Americas, and Asia.
His career highlights include significant roles as Head of Mission in Equatorial Guinea, Consul-General in Mozambique, and Political Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Portugal to the United Nations in New York.
Recognized for his service, he was awarded the Great Cross of the Portuguese Order for Merit in 2023.

In Pakistan, Ambassador Silva has actively promoted Portuguese culture and bilateral cooperation.
His key achievements included hosting literary events, promoting the Portuguese language through educational collaborations, and engaging in arts and cultural initiatives, such as inaugurating exhibitions and organizing heritage events.
He has also participated in significant discussions with Pakistani officials, fostering a shared vision for enhanced bilateral relations.
Ambassador Manuel has also been promoting economic and trade ties between Pakistan and Portugal.
