Islamabad, 20 July 2022 (TDI): Ambassador of Poland to Pakistan, Maciej Pisarski, along with a delegation of Polish Oil and Gas Company (POGC), called on the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Musadik Malik, at the Petroleum division today.

The ambassador highlighted his country’s commitment to cooperating with Pakistan in the energy sector.
According to the tweet from the Petroleum division, the delegation of the company was led by Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Robert Perkowski, and Vice President of the Management Board, Artur Cieslik.
The Minister of State, Dr. Musadik Malik, discussed the topics of common interest with the delegation during the meeting.
Further, he emphasized Pakistan’s interest in taking advantage of Poland’s technical expertise in the Oil and Gas sector as Poland is a reckoning country and a pioneer in petroleum exploration.
In addition, to secure smooth operations for Polish Companies and to ensure continued Polish investment, State Minister Malik stated that the government is committed to offering all appropriate help and facilitation.
According to Ambassador Maciej Pisarski, the oil and gas agreement is a jewel in the crown of the Pak-Polish relationship. Also, he emphasized Poland’s desire to invest in and expand Pakistan’s oil and gas industry.
The delegation expressed its utter appreciation to the minister for his assistance.
Robert Perkowski asserted that PGNiG (Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo) Group’s management has always acknowledged the Government of Pakistan and its officials’ support for the company’s operations in Pakistan.
He further stated that the PGNiG is dedicated to helping Pakistan achieve energy security and expressed hope that Pakistan’s investment climate would improve.
Polish Oil and Gas Company
As a subsidiary of PGNiG Group Poland, PGNiG, also known as Polish Oil and Gas Company (POGC), has been effectively operating in Pakistan since 1997.
Since the company’s foundation, it has granted three concession areas for Oil & Gas exploration in Pakistan during the 97-98. The company is working in Khanpur west and Sabzal district Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab, and Mekhtar, District Lora Lai in Balochistan province.
It has on its credit Pakistan’s first tight gas reservoir discovery, which is currently being successfully developed.
Economic relations between Pakistan and Poland
Poland and Pakistan enjoy excellent and very cordial relations. In addition, Economic cooperation between both countries is gathering pace. The trade turnover passed the €500 million mark in 2018, which is now steadily growing.
Renowned Polish geological surveying and exploration companies have strong investment and economic ties to Pakistan.
In conclusion, the two countries are part of multiple trade agreements and bilateral agreements in the domains of enterprises, defence, culture, and economic cooperation.
