Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed Malaysia’s decision to import Halal meat worth $200 million from Pakistan, describing it as a positive and encouraging development that will deepen cooperation between the two countries in this growing sector.
In a message shared on X, the prime minister said he had a “very productive exchange” with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during their meeting in Putrajaya.
The two leaders held detailed discussions on expanding bilateral ties, especially in areas such as trade, investment, education, defense, climate cooperation, and tourism.
PM Shehbaz noted that his Malaysian counterpart had shown a keen interest in Pakistan’s meat exports, calling it a “promising opportunity for both nations.”

Shehbaz Sharif, who arrived in Malaysia a day earlier on an official visit, expressed gratitude for the “warm and generous hospitality” extended by Prime Minister Anwar and the Malaysian government. He also praised the impressive welcome ceremony held at Perdana Putra.
He said that both sides also discussed regional and global issues, including the situation in the Middle East and South Asia, and reaffirmed their resolve to continue working for regional peace and prosperity.

Reflecting on shared cultural and philosophical ties, PM Shehbaz said that both leaders drew inspiration from Allama Iqbal’s vision, emphasizing that faith, effort, and perseverance determine the destiny of nations.
Concluding his remarks, the prime minister said he looked forward to further strengthening Pakistan–Malaysia cooperation across all fields of mutual interest.
