PM to Embark on Four-Nation Tour After Tensions with India

Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to embark on official visits to four friendly nations, including Turkiye, Iran, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan from May 25 to 30, to convey Pakistan’s gratitude for their support during the recent conflict with India.

The Prime Minister will hold wide-ranging discussions with the leaders of these countries, focusing on bilateral relations as well as key regional and international issues, the Foreign Office said in a statement.

He would also participate in the International Conference on Glaciers scheduled from May 29 to 30 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, added the statement.

On Friday, the premier also met with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who will lead a high-level delegation comprising notable parliamentarians to global capitals to present Islamabad’s case at the international stage after the recent military standoff between Pakistan and India.

During the meeting, Bilawal thanked the PM for trusting him with this diplomatic task and entrusting him with the leadership of the Pakistani delegation.

“I hope that under your leadership, Pakistan’s delegation will effectively and comprehensively present Pakistan’s position and narrative to the world,” the prime minister said.

Pakistan armed forces launched a massive retaliatory military action, named “Operation Bunyanum Marsoos”, hitting multiple military installations across India.

The attacks, termed by officials as “precise and proportionate”, were carried out in response to India’s continued aggression across the Line of Control (LoC) and inside Pakistan.

Pakistan shot down 6 Indian fighter aircrafts, including 3 Rafale, and dozens of drones. After at least 87 hours of intense military standoff, the war, started by New Delhi, stopped on May 10 with a ceasefire brokered by the United States.

According to ISPR, a total of 53 people, including thirteen personnel of the armed forces and forty civilians, were martyred in Indian attacks.
