Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed his profound gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan for their unwavering solidarity with and support to Pakistan during the recent tensions with India.
The Prime Minister received Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Khazar Farhadov at the PM House on Wednesday.
During the meeting, PM Shehbaz said that Azerbaijan’s firm support was reflective of the abiding friendship between the two countries.
While highly appreciating the valiant Armed Forces of Pakistan for the successful conduct of Operation Bunyanun Marsoos, the PM said Pakistani people were grateful to Allah Almighty for this historic victory.
He emphasized Pakistan was a peace-loving nation and in this spirit, had agreed to accept the ceasefire understanding with India.
However, Pakistan stood ready to resolutely safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity in face of any future aggression, he insisted.

While acknowledging the excellent nature of Pakistan-Azerbaijan ties, he expressed his satisfaction at the positive trajectory of bilateral collaboration.
The PM said that President Aliyev’s historic trip to Pakistan last July, marked an important milestone by opening up new avenues of cooperation in the areas of economy, trade and investment.
While recalling his trip to Baku in February, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Islamabad’s strong desire to elevate relations to a mutually rewarding economic partnership.

Ambassador Faradov warmly felicitated the Prime Minister and the whole nation upon the success. He praised Pakistan’s efforts for peace in the region.
The envoy said that President Aliyev attached great importance to relations between the two nations.
While speaking about progress made in implementation of multiple deals inked at the leadership level, he assured the Prime Minister of his full commitment to strengthen cooperation between the nations across all spheres of mutual interest.
