Khartoum, 8 September 2021 (TDI): The Prime Minister of Sudan, Abdalla Hamdok received at his office in the Council of Ministers, a UN delegation headed by Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, and Parfait Onanga, Envoy of the Secretary-General for the Horn of Africa, in the presence of Foreign Minister Maryam Sadiq.
The meeting discussed the situation of peacekeepers who are currently working in the area of Abyei.
With that, measures were also discussed to respond to Sudan’s request to change the unit.
Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, confirmed that he had started looking for troops from countries that meet special requirements so that the transition would go smoothly and not lead to unwanted problems.
