PM Shehbaz’s Belarus Visit to Boost Ties: Envoy

Minsk (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Belarus will open a new chapter in Pakistan-Belarus cooperation, Ambassador of Pakistan to Belarus Muhemmed Aejaz said on Thursday.

He said that the visit aims to strengthen collaboration in trade, investment, agriculture and manufacturing industry between the two nations.

“The foundation for this trip was laid during Pakistan-Belarus events held earlier. First of all, this is the 8th session of the Pakistan-Belarus intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation held in February in Minsk,” he said.

The envoy said that bilateral ties between Pakistan and Belarus are developing at an unprecedented pace.

High-level visits between the two nations are becoming increasingly frequent, with the latest being Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to Pakistan in November 2024.

Following the visit, a comprehensive cooperation roadmap between the two countries for 2025-2027 and several other documents were signed.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by a high-level delegation, is currently visiting Belarus, where multiple agreements across various sectors are expected to be signed.

Emphasis will be placed on further development of trade and economic collaboration, including in manufacturing sector, food security, and humanitarian ties.
