PM Shehbaz Receives Guard of Honor in Tashkent

Tashkent (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was warmly welcomed in Tashkent on Wednesday with a guard of honor upon his arrival at the Congress Centre.

The event set the stage for high-level discussions aimed at increasing trade, investment, regional connectivity, and security cooperation.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev personally received Prime Minister Shehbaz, underlining the importance of the visit.

The ceremonial reception included playing both countries’ national anthems, followed by the two leaders reviewing a military guard.

The discussions are expected to achieve the signing of several agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), further securing the partnership between the two nations.

The agreements and MoUs signed during these visits are expected to lay the groundwork for long-term collaboration, reflecting Pakistan’s commitment to building stronger ties with its strategic partners

In addition to official talks, Prime Minister Shehbaz will address the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum, where he will focus on investment opportunities and strategies to strengthen economic collaboration.

His official tour also includes a visit to Tashkent’s Techno Park, which features Uzbekistan’s industrial and construction technology advancements.

This move reflects Pakistan’s interest in learning from its Central Asian partner.

This visit follows Prime Minister Shehbaz’s recent trip to Azerbaijan, where Pakistan and Azerbaijan agreed to increase bilateral investment to $2 billion, focusing on mutually beneficial projects.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Baku; the prime minister highlighted the unity among Pakistan’s political leadership in strengthening ties with Azerbaijan, particularly in economic and defense cooperation.

The prime minister, accompanied by a high-level delegation including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, and Investment Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, engaged in delegation-level talks with Uzbek officials.
