Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday, during which both leaders discussed the evolving situation in the Middle East and emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution through negotiations and diplomacy.
During the call, PM Shehbaz said the region cannot afford further instability and that diplomatic channels must remain open.
He assured President Pezeshkian of Pakistan’s continued support at global forums, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

He also stressed the importance of respecting international rules and the UN Charter.
President Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan for its consistent support. He appreciated Islamabad’s role in promoting a peaceful approach and said that unity among Muslim countries is key in responding to current challenges.
Both leaders agreed to stay in touch and work together to push for peace in the region.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar welcomed the ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
In a post on X, he said the announcement was encouraging and praised those who helped make it happen.

“I warmly welcome today’s ceasefire between Iran and Israel. It’s a step in the right direction, and we hope it brings lasting peace,” Dar wrote.
He added that Pakistan believes all disputes must be settled through peaceful means, with respect for sovereignty and international law.
