Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday extended his warm congratulations to Chinese President Xi Jinping, PremierLi Qiang and the Chinese people on the successful convening of the “Two Sessions” in Beijing.
“China is making remarkable progress in achieving its national development goals. We are especially impressed by China’s modernization under President Xi’s visionary leadership,” the PM said in a post on X.
He said that as “iron brothers” and all weather strategic cooperative partners, Pakistan and China will continue to work together closely to further strengthen bilateral collaboration to realize the shared objectives of peace and development.
What is the Two Sessions?
The event is called the “two sessions” because both the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) hold their annual meetings separately, but at the same time.
The CPPCC is an advisory body which often sees some outside-the-box proposals for national problems.

Its members include business executives, celebrities and prominent individuals who previously included the likes of actor Jackie Chan and basketballer Yao Ming.
The 3,000-member NPC is the Chinese Communist party’s legislative organ.
What Happens at the Meetings?
The meetings include “work report” speeches by the premier of China, and sometimes speeches by the party leader.
Official economic targets are set, military budgets unveiled, and changes in the ranks of party leadership bodies are confirmed.
