Islamabad, 30 August 2024 (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to the Government of Bangladesh, spoke on the phone to discuss bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest on Friday.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his congratulations to Professor Yunus on his recent appointment and praised his efforts in advancing Bangladesh’s socio-economic development, according to a statement issued by the PM office.
He also conveyed his sympathies regarding the recent floods that have affected Bangladesh.

During the conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized the need to rejuvenate bilateral relations through enhanced cooperation across various sectors.
He highlighted the historical, religious, and cultural connections between Pakistan and Bangladesh, expressing a strong interest in increasing commercial ties, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people interactions.
Close Collaboration
Both leaders agreed on the necessity of close collaboration to advance the welfare and prosperity of their nations.
They also recognized the role of regional cooperation in improving the lives of people throughout South Asia.
Professor Yunus expressed his appreciation for the prime minister’s call and the sentiments shared.
