Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday urged the Afghanistan Interim Government to take action against TTP and stop the banned outfit from carrying out terror activities inside Pakistan from across the Afghan border.
He made these remarks while chairing a meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad.
“TTP is carrying out terror attacks and killing innocent people inside Pakistan, which is unfortunate. This cannot go on,” the premier said in his opening remarks.

He said the government had conveyed to the Afghan government its desire to build good relations with all neighbouring countries, including Afghanistan.
“But, the Afghan government must stop TTP from killing our innocent people. This is a red line,” he noted.
His statement comes after the Foreign Office confirmed that Pakistan conducted an airstrike in a “carefully selected border area based on authentic intelligence” earlier this week.
In a weekly briefing today, the FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch confirmed that security forces conducted an operation on the border area which was “carefully selected and based on authentic intelligence.”
She said Pakistan respected Afghanistan’s sovereignty and wanted to resolve issues with dialogue. She added that terror hubs and sanctuaries inside Afghanistan remained high on their bilateral agenda.
In his remarks today, PM Shehbaz said Pakistan shared thousands of kilometre-long border with Afghanistan and wanted to have cordial ties and cooperation in trade, economy and other sectors.
He urged the Afghan government to form a concrete strategy to deal with the TTP, as Pakistan was ready for dialogue on the issue.
