Manila, 16 September 2021 (TDI): On Thursday, the Philippines Department of foreign affairs announced their togetherness with the international community to highlight initiatives of the Montreal Protocol for the preservation of the Ozone layer.

According to the Philippines Ozone Desk (POD), the Philippine commitment to the Montreal protocol is to gradually stop its consumption patterns either the Philippines as a producer or exporter.
Since 1988, the Philippines has signed the Montreal Protocol. Now, the Philippines taking measures to ratify the international agreement, the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol. The objective of the Kigali Amendment is gradually slow down the consumption and production of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
The Official Twitter account of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines tweeted, “With the Kigali Amendment, the MP will be an even more powerful instrument to protect the ozone layer and to avert the climate crisis.”
16 September of every year is unique because on this day the World Ozone Day is observed. Its purpose is the protection of the Ozone layer and celebration of global efforts to phase out the Ozone layer’s depletion.
