Pezeshkian Thanks Pakistan, Warns of Israeli Moves to Split Muslim World

Tehran (TDI): Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a meeting with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, issued a strong warning against what he described as Israel’s attempts to sow division among Muslim nations.

Emphasizing the need for unity across the Islamic world, President Pezeshkian said, “Now more than ever, harmony among Muslim countries is not just desirable, it is essential.”

He thanked Pakistan for standing by Iran during the recent 12-day conflict with Israel, which ended last month.

Calling the relationship with Islamabad a priority for Tehran, the Iranian leader said both nations had opportunities to expand cooperation in various fields.

He noted with appreciation the diplomatic and public support extended by Pakistan during the crisis.

Interior Minister Naqvi congratulated President Pezeshkian on what he called a “great victory” and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support.

“From day one, Pakistan condemned the aggression. Our Parliament was the first to pass a resolution backing Iran’s right to self-defense,” Naqvi told the Iranian leadership.

The high-level exchange follows the recent armed conflict between Iran and Israel, which erupted on June 13 after Israeli airstrikes hit Iranian military, civilian, and nuclear sites.

According to Iran’s Health Ministry, at least 606 people were killed and more than 5,300 were injured in the attacks.

Iran retaliated with drone and missile strikes on Israeli targets, which, according to data from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, left 29 dead and over 3,400 injured.

The United States also entered the fray, bombing several nuclear facilities in Iran. Washington later claimed that its strikes dismantled large portions of Iran’s nuclear program. The hostilities came to a halt with a US-mediated ceasefire that took effect on June 24.
