Pervaiz Khattak attended SCO conference of Defence Ministers in Tajikistan

The 18th regular meeting of the member nations SCO Council of Defence Ministers was hosted by Tajikistan in Dushanbe on Wednesday. The Defence Minister of Pakistan, Pervaiz Khattak also participated in the meeting.

The members of the council agreed to continue their efforts in improving communications, establishing consensus, and extending collaboration in order to create optimal circumstances for the sustained growth of the regional bloc. All parties also agreed that they should actively assist the peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan, improve counterterrorism collaboration, fight terrorists, and continue to improve regional peace and security.

On the sidelines of the conference, the Defence Minister of Pakistan also met the Defence Minister of China, Wei Fenghe. Both the Ministers exchanged views on Pak China bilateral and security relations. In addition, they discussed regional and global dynamics as well as cooperation and assistance in counter-terrorism.

Earlier this week, on his official visit, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak met Defence Minister of Tajikistan, Sherali Mirzo at Dushanbe. Pervaiz Khattak conveyed good wishes to the civil and military leadership and people of Tajikistan. He also lauded Tajikistan’s peace efforts in the region and hoped for the consolidation of bilateral defence cooperation.
