Paris, 13 November (TDI): French President Emmanual Macron hosted the International peace conference on Libya in Paris. World leaders and Diplomats participated in the conference. The aims and objectives of the Peace Conference on Libya are to hold elections on 24 December 2021 and provide international support for a political transition in Libya.

Nearly 30 countries’ representatives and diplomats, including African countries, participated in the conference. Further, Key participants of the conference are US Vice President Kamala Harris, Egyptian President Abdul Fateh Al Sisi, Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra. Besides, state officials from Germany, Italy also attended the conference. Additionally, Russia and Turkey sent their low-level official for the conference on Libya.
In the conference, the French President argued Russia and Turkey withdraw their forces and mercenaries from Libya. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres participated through a video link in the conference. He said, “any party that deliberately undermines or sabotages peace must be held accountable”. World Powers argued the stakeholders should respect the decision to hold an election on 24 December 2021.
Moreover, Energy Resources rich country, Libya, is in civil war since the fall of Colonel Kaddafi’s rule in 2011. Factions in Libya are fighting with the support of foreign powers. Many hope that presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya in December 2021 and January 2022 will bring stability to the war-torn country.
