Dubai, 1 May 2024 (TDI): Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s envoy to the United Arab Emirates along with Hussain Muhammad, Consul General held a meeting with a delegation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) at Pakistan’s Consulate General, Dubai.
The meeting aimed at discussing strategic initiatives and further strengthen bilateral ties.
The meeting was apprised that PIA will start direct flights to Skardu in the Northern Areas of Pakistan from May 03, 2024 to facilitate tourists and residents of that area.
The gathering underscored the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the UAE, particularly within the aviation sector.
Ambassador Tirmizi emphasized the importance of fostering collaborations that enhance connectivity and promote mutual interests.
The delegation from PIA shared insights into the airline’s operational strategies and future plans, highlighting the role of the UAE as a crucial hub for regional and international travel.
During the meeting, Ambassador Tirmizi remarked, “We are committed to advancing economic development and cooperation, collectively.”
“PIA plays a pivotal role in facilitating air travel between our nations, and we look forward to exploring avenues for expanded cooperation.”
Direct flights from Dubai to Skardu will be on Friday while from Skardu to Dubai on each Monday. However, connecting flights will be available throughout the week.
Highlighting the immense potential of tourism offered by Pakistan, Ambassador Tirmizi said that it was indeed a right step by PIA towards facilitating tourists and people of Baltistan region.
He added that Pakistan is home to five above 8000 meter peaks (04 are in Skardu) and 108 peaks above 7,000 metres.
Tirmizi invited residents of UAE to explore the unmatched natural beauty of the Northern Areas while availing the opportunity of taking direct flight to one of the world’s most scenic destinations.
Skardu is home to beautiful lakes, valleys, and amazing landscapes, added Ambassador Tirmizi.
The PIA’s team included Zeeshan Ahmed, Regional Manager Middle East, Muhammad Qasim Abbasi, Sales Executive, Sarmad Aizaz, Manager Sharjah & Northern Emirates and Saima Aslam Area Manager Abu Dhabi.

Zeeshan Ahmed thanked the ambassador for promoting and supporting the initiative by PIA.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to explore opportunities for collaboration, including potential enhancements to air travel infrastructure and services.
