Islamabad, 11 July 2023 (TDI): Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif participated in the first high-level conference of the Forum on Global Development Initiative (GDI) via video conference on Monday. This conference was arranged in Beijing by China International Development Cooperation Authority (CIDCA).
Moreover, the conference was aimed to foster mutually assured growth and development and strengthen cooperation between countries in achieving the United Nations’ 2030 agenda of Sustainable Development Goals.
It provided a platform for leaders to discuss strategies, exchange ideas, and explore potential partnerships in areas such as poverty alleviation, infrastructure development, and environmental sustainability.
More than 800 participants from around the world, including government officials, representatives from international organizations, and experts in various fields, attended the conference and shared their views on the construction of a shared future for humanity.
The participation of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif highlights Pakistan’s commitment to international collaboration and its efforts toward achieving inclusive and sustainable development.

While conveying his country’s perspective on the topic, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the need to promote international cooperation to boost socio-economic cooperation along with mitigating the consequences of climate change and achieving sustainable development for the welfare of humanity.
Furthermore, he said Pakistan is determined to collaborate with partner countries to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2023. He also stressed that Pakistan would continue to work closely with China to swiftly complete the GDI projects in Pakistan.
The completion of GDI projects in Pakistan will boost the country’s infrastructure and economic development and contribute to promoting bilateral ties between both nations.
China is striving to enhance its global influence and strengthen its economic ties with other countries through initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative and GDI.
Additionally, China is actively involved in addressing global challenges and leading the world toward multilateralism, and this conference can be seen as part of the efforts in this regard.
