Nur Sultan, 3 December 2021 (TDI): Pakistan’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Dr. Moeed Yusuf, concluded his day-long visit to Kazakhstan.
Geo-Economics Centric Policy Pursual
During his visit, NSA Dr. Moeed Yousaf held several meetings. He termed these meetings as ‘highly productive’. He shed light on the shift in Pakistan’s policy from geostrategic to geoeconomics.
NSA Moeed also met his Kazakh counterpart on the visit. Assistant to the Kazakh President-Security Council Secretary, Asset Issekeshev, and Dr. Moeed agreed that cooperation on both economic and security fronts will be beneficial for both sides.
NSA Yusuf also paid a visit to the National Defence University in Nur Sultan. He expressed his happiness on visiting the Pakistan Military Art Room at the University. The room showcases the achievements of Pakistan’s armed forces.
Moreover, the National Security Advisor reiterated Pakistan’s shift from a security-centric policy to a geo-economics and security-led foreign policy.
The Afghanistan Crisis
Furthermore, both sides exchanged views on Afghanistan. They agreed to assist Afghanistan on an emergency basis to avert a humanitarian disaster. Recurrently Pakistan has been advocating the cause of emergency assistance in Afghanistan. Moreover, the Pakistani NSA himself has reiterated the need for attention and help diverted to Afghanistan throughout all his International engagements. Pakistan has advocated attention towards the brewing crisis in Afghanistan as a humanitarian issue.
Earlier, Moeed Yusuf also held NSA-level talks with his Russian counterpart in Moscow. He visited Moscow on a two-day visit, from the 1st till 2nd December. The NSA level talks were held after a break of three years. Earlier they were conducted in 2018.
Dr. Moeed met the Russian NSA Nikolai Patrushev. Both sides also held delegation-level talks. The talks were termed productive and successful. They covered bilateral and regional security issues.

Dr. Moeed termed the meeting as “Yet another testament to the strength of Pakistan-Russia relations and the commitment of both sides to improve it further”.
