Beijing, 12 August 2022 (TDI): Pakistan Ambassador to China, Moin Ul Haque on Friday unveiled the replica of Minar- e-Pakistan (Tower of Pakistan). The ceremony was held at Chaoyang Park.

This move highlighted China’s will to further promote the all-weather friendship between Pakistan and China.

Ambassador Haque, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the importance of Minar-e-Pakistan. He said that this is a very special national monument of Pakistan. It signifies a very important moment in the history of the Pakistan Movement.

He added that, on 23rd March 1940, the Muslims of the subcontinent demanded, a separate homeland for themselves, through a resolution.

Pakistan’s ambassador highlighted that this monument is a symbol of the Independence, freedom, and hope for the 220 million people of Pakistan.

The Commemoration of Pak-China relations

The ceremony was a part of developments to commemorate the 75th anniversary and long-lasting relations between Pakistan and China.

Officials from the Pakistan Embassy and Chinese Officials unveiled the replica of Minar-e-Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Ambassador hoped that this replica would also serve as a symbol of friendship between China and Pakistan.

Chen Wei, Counsellor, Asia Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China also attended the ceremony. He stated that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic and cooperative partners and enjoy deep-rooted friendship.

He highlighted that last year both countries celebrated 70 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties.

“This monument will further enhance awareness about Pakistan among the Chinese people”, he added.

China-Pakistan Relations

Pakistan and China established diplomatic relations on 21 May 1951.

This relationship has built on the strength of its successive achievements and has become formidable with each passing day and year. Both countries are committed to taking this relationship forward.

China is currently Pakistan’s largest single trading partner; while Pakistan is China’s second-largest trading partner in South Asia. While Pakistan-China Defence collaboration forms the backbone of the relationship.

Pakistan and China have constituted a Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) to implement CPEC. CPEC includes 8 Joint Working Groups (JWGs) covering the various areas of cooperation. This includes Energy, Transport Infrastructure, Gwadar seaport, industrial cooperation, Planning & Finance, Security, Socio-Economic Development, and International Cooperation.

The ninth and tenth JWGs on Science & Technology and Agriculture have been established in March 2020 during the visit of the President to China.
