Pakistan’s Consul General Visits Ismaili Council in Houston

Houston, 1 May 2023 (TDI): The Consul General of Pakistan in Houston, Muhammad Aftab Chaudhry, visited the Ismaili Jamaatkhana in Houston on April 29, 2023. Murad Ajani, President of the Ismaili Council for the Southwestern United States, invited the Consul General to visit the Ismaili Jamaatkhana in Houston.

During the visit, Consul General Chaudhry had the opportunity to tour the facility and was briefed on the activities of the Council.

The Ismaili community belongs to the Shi’a sect of Islam and is, in number, the second-largest community of Shia in the world. The community has a presence in over 25 countries, with members of diverse backgrounds and professions.

The Consul General acknowledged the significant contribution made by the Ismaili community both domestically and internationally. Ismailis are well known for their commitment to societal, cultural, and economic advancement.

The Consul General, in particular, emphasized the Ismaili community’s dedication to enhancing cooperation in fields like information technology, education, and investment in Pakistan.

He also expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he received from the Ismaili community in Houston and the hospitality shown during his visit.

Consul General Chaudhry mentioned that such interactions and exchanges between communities are important for building bridges and promoting understanding between different cultures and ideologies.

He expressed his hope that the Ismaili community and Pakistan can continue to work together towards common goals and mutual benefits. The Counselor General also underscored the importance of strengthening cultural and bilateral ties.
