Washington D.C, 19th September 2021 (TDI): Pakistan’s Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, attended 24th International Sea Power Symposium. The event was held at U.S.A Naval War College, Newport. Delegations from over 80 countries attended the Symposium.
The theme of the Symposium was ‘Strength in Unity’. The topics for panel discussion were: Sea Power in Information Age, Combating Invisible Foe: COVID-19, and Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing. The forum also marked the discussion of ways and strategies to enhance global and regional maritime security.
On the sidelines of the Symposium, the Chief of Naval Staff also had bilateral meetings. He met with U.S Secretary of Navy, Carlos Del Toro and Naval Chiefs of Argentina, France, Germany, Japan, Sri Lanka, Ghana, and Turkey. Matters of mutual interests were discussed. The countries expressed their resolve to enhance bilateral naval cooperation to combat challenges in the maritime security domain. Later on, the Naval Chief also visited U.S Surface Warfare School.
On the occasion, the Chief of Naval Staff said that Pakistan is committed to maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region. For this purpose, the country has initiated Regional Maritime Security Patrols and is also collaborating with Combined Maritime Force Operations.
