Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia Meets Commerce Minister, Discusses Trade Ties

Islamabad, 12 August 2024 (TDI): Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia Muhammad Khalid Jamali on Monday called on Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan to discuss ways to bolster trade and investment ties between Pakistan and Russia.

The high-level meeting was focused on exploring new avenues of bilateral economic cooperation, enhancing trade, and addressing existing challenges in the trade ties between the two nations.

During the meeting, Ambassador Jamali stressed the importance of deepening economic ties with Russia, a key global player and an emerging market with immense potential for Pakistani exports.

Jamali also emphasized for a diversified trade portfolio, encouraging greater exports of agricultural products, textiles, and other goods to Russia.

Federal Minister Jam Kamal Khan echoed the envo’s sentiments, acknowledging Russia as key partner in Pakistan’s efforts to expand its economic horizons and reiterated the government’s commitment to facilitating investment and trade between the two countries.

The discussions also touched on the challenges that have impeded trade between the two nations and its solutions for a more robust financial framework to support trade transactions.
