As a result of Pakistan’s vibrant foreign policy, our relations with Argentina have strengthened roots in different genres of diplomacy. It includes high-level visits, political bilateral consultations, cooperation at international fora, parliamentary exchanges, cooperation in fields of education, science, and technology, trade & investment, etc.

Argentina has been a friend in need and was one of the countries that supported Pakistan at the United Nations during the 1971 crisis. It has been joining consensus on Pakistan’s resolution on people’s right to self-determination tabled annually in the UN General Assembly and supported the resolution of Kashmir in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions. Pakistan has voted in favor of the UN Resolution which stipulated that “maintenance of colonial situation was incompatible with the United Nations ideal of universal peace”. Pakistan favors a peaceful settlement of the Malvinas dispute through negotiations.

Over the years, both countries have had friendly and cordial relationships characterized by cooperation at international fora, shared perceptions, and understanding of most major global and regional issues. The Argentine-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group was established in September 2008 while the Pakistan-Argentina Friendship Group was established in October 2008.

A 15-member delegation comprising of 13 companies and one chamber from Argentina and one company from Panama participated in the Expo-Pakistan in February 2015. 13 Argentine companies participated in Expo-Pakistan 2016. 09 companies from this region have participated in this event in 2017. Pakistan community in Argentina, though small in number (about 10-15 families), plays its role to promote Pakistani culture and traditions in the country.
