Islamabad, 16 November 2022 (TDI): The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has chosen Pakistani woman Ayla Majid, a Fellow ACCA (FCCA) member, as its worldwide vice president.

She made history by becoming the first South Asian to hold this position in the 118-year history of ACCA.

While speaking on her election as Vice President, Ayla said that she would want to convey her thanks for being chosen for the ACCA Global Council.

She praised the ACCA for letting her continue to play a part in the council’s efforts to further the organization’s development, worldwide influence, importance, and recognition.

Ayla highlighted that the candidates for office in this year’s ACCA elections were all very qualified.

Therefore, she is delighted with how the election procedure is evolving to maintain the profession.

Ambassador Zahid Hafeez’s message

Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, High Commissioner for Pakistan to the Commonwealth of Australia, congratulated Ayla Majid on her appointment as Vice President of ACCA.

He further said, “You’ve made Pakistan proud,” after becoming the first South Asian woman to be elected for this global position in ACCA’s 118-year history.

In Pakistan, she serves on the boards of many governmental and commercial organizations in the energy, pharmaceutical, and not-for-profit sectors.

She concentrates on and provides guidance on the SDGs’ implementation across multiple industries in her many responsibilities.

ACCA Vice president is a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum (WEF) and an Eisenhower Fellow. She is also a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council for Energy Transition.
