Pakistani Passport Remains 4th Worst Globally for Fifth Consecutive Year

Islamabad (TDI): The Pakistani passport has once again been ranked among the world’s weakest, holding the fourth-worst position for the fifth straight year, according to the latest Henley Passport Index, which ranks 199 passports based on the number of countries their holders can visit without a prior visa.

In the 2025 ranking released on Tuesday, Pakistan was placed 103rd, tied with Yemen. Only Iraq (104), Syria (105), and Afghanistan (106) ranked lower.

Pakistani passport holders can currently travel visa-free to 33 countries, while Yemen offers the same. Iraq allows entry to 31 destinations, Syria 28, and Afghanistan only 26.

By comparison, the top-ranked passport continues to belong to Singapore, granting visa-free access to 193 countries, followed by South Korea (190) and Japan (189).

Several European nations, including Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, and Switzerland, share the fourth position with access to 188 destinations, while Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, and the Netherlands are fifth with access to 187 countries.

The index also highlighted significant changes among traditionally strong passports. For the first time, the United States has fallen out of the top 10, now tied for 12th place with Malaysia, offering visa-free access to 180 destinations.

The United Kingdom passport has dropped to its lowest-ever ranking, falling from sixth to eighth, despite having topped the index in 2015.
