28 October, 2021 (TDI): The region Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory between Pakistan and India. After the partition of the subcontinent into Pakistan and India in August 1947, nearly 565 princely states were given choice to join either of the two dominions. Kashmir was one of the Princely states where Muslims are in majority. However, on 27th October, 1947, the Hindu ruler of Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh, singed the Instrument of Accession with India.
Pakistan considers this act as the violation of right of self-determination of the Kashmiris. Hence, it considers this accession as an occupation. Every year, Pakistan observed 27th October as Kashmir Black Day.
