Pakistan, 5 August 2024 (TDI): As the nation observes Youm-e-Istehsal (Exploitation Day) to mark five years since India revoked the special autonomy of occupied Kashmir and to show solidarity with Kashmiris, Pakistani missions abroad also joined the people in highlighting the illegal act of India.

Pakistani embassies in different world capitals including Foreign Office in Islamabad on Monday carried out different activities such as seminar, walks and conferences to spotlight the wrongful actions of Indian taken on August 5, 2019.

Officials of the FO led by Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi participated in a walk held at the Constitution Avenue in Islamabad.

The participants were present at large numbers in the walk to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar addressed the rally at D-Chowk. He expressed solidarity to the Kashmiri cause and reiterated the will of Pakistan to continue providing political, diplomatic and moral support to its Kashmiri brothers and sister. “He called for the realization of their just right to self-determination as enshrined in the UN Charter and as guaranteed in the relevant Security Council and OIC resolutions,” noted a tweet from Ministry of Foreign Affairs
In a related activity, Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi briefed the Islamabad-based diplomats on the situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The secretary underscored the grave consequences of India’s unlawful actions of August 5, 2019 from the perspective of international law, human rights, and peace and security.

The Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations and the Pakistan Consulate General in New York also observed the Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir to express solidarity with Kashmiris who have been facing Indian brutality with exemplary courage and to expose the ongoing human rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir. The marking of the day also aimed to discuss the implications of the colonial-settler project of demographic changes in Kashmir by India; to examine the impact of the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35(a) on the lives of Kashmiris; and to discuss the role of the United Nations and the international community in the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with the UNSC resolutions.

A tweet from Pakistan Embassy US noted that from 1989 to June 2024, there has been significant violence in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), with demographic segregation, over 430 lakhs kanals of land grabbed, and the issuance of 250,000 illegal domiciles.

Pakistan Embassy France tweet reads, “A just and peaceful resolution of the J&K dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions and wishes of the Kashmiri people is imperative for regional peace and stability. UN Security Council must fulfill its primary responsibility and ensure implementation of its own resolutions on Kashmir.”

Pakistan High Commission London tweeted, “Pakistan will continue to be the voice of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters, who continue to render invaluable sacrifices.

Pakistan Embassy China observed the solemn occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal by hosting a ceremony to express condemnation of India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019, concerning Kashmir.

Pakistan Embassy Sweden in its post on X notes that the embassy joins thousands of Pakistani Swedish and Pakistani Finnish nationals to mark Youm-e-Istehsal of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters. August 5, 2019 is a grim reminder of the violation of people’s rights in Kashmir and the promise to implement UN SC resolutions.

The missions in other major capitals also highlighted the issue of illegal revocation of the special status of Kashmir by India.
