Pakistani Envoy, Lebanese Deputy PM Discuss Bilateral Ties

Beirut (TDI): Pakistan’s Ambassador Salman Athar met with Tarek Mitri, Deputy Prime Minister of Lebanon, to discuss bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.

The meeting highlighted the shared commitment of both nations to enhance cooperation and stability in the Middle East.

The discussion also covered the regional political and security landscape.

During the meeting, Ambassador Athar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Lebanon. 

He also expressed Pakistan’s solidarity with Lebanon during its current challenges and reiterated support for initiatives to promote peace and stability in the region.

Moreover, Ambassador Athar and Deputy Prime Minister Mitri discussed ways to enhance collaboration on security matters, emphasizing the importance of regional stability and counterterrorism efforts.

Mitri appreciated Pakistan’s role in international peacekeeping efforts and acknowledged the contributions of the Pakistani diaspora in Lebanon.

Both sides agreed to explore new avenues for cooperation, including joint initiatives to address common challenges and enhance people-to-people contacts.

The discussions underscored the importance of sustained dialogue and collaboration between Pakistan and Lebanon, reflecting their shared vision for a peaceful and prosperous future.

Pakistan and Lebanon share cordial relations, based on mutual respect and common interests.

Both countries have collaborated on various international forums, including the United Nations, and have supported each other on issues of global and regional significance. 

Lebanon has been witnessing a complex political and security environment marked by economic challenges, internal political divisions, and regional tensions. 

The country has faced significant security threats, including the impact of the Syrian conflict, the presence of militant groups, and sporadic violence.
